Climbing in coral reefs, biking on the seabed – that is only possible in the Dolomites. It was quite some time ago, more precisely around 250 million years ago, that the prominent peaks of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo were still under water. It was only when the African and Eurasian plates collided that the entire Alpine region was pushed upwards, and so the fairytale land of the Dolomites was born, which has lost none of its charm to this day.
Feels like Paradise.
… if we dare to paint it. A summer holiday in Val Pusteria is particularly well suited for it. You can experience the Dolomites from their most beautiful side while hiking, biking and climbing, and there is also a lot to discover here. We exclusively reveal our favourite insider tips.
A hike up our local mountain, the Monte Serla, is a must during your summer holiday in the Dolomites. From the summit cross you can enjoy one of the most beautiful views across the Val Pusteria. The hiking tours on the Picco di Vallandro in the Braies valley, the Monte Calvo and the Corno Fana di Dobbiaco are also among our favourites. You will understand why once you have reached the summit.
If you prefer something a little quieter, you will find your very own personal place of power while forest bathing on the balance theme trail in Villabassa.
Numerous mountain bike and e-bike tours await you close by. From Montanaris, you can reach the Val Pusteria cycle route in just a few minutes, where you can continue your ride in all directions: to San Candido and Lienz, to Cortina d’Ampezzo or perhaps further on to Brunico and Bressanone? You can also return on the train (a separate ticket must be purchased for the bicycle).
